Jive

Jive (East Coast Swing) is a lively, fast-based rhythm that has become extremely popular in recent years.  The basic steps are rock-recover-triple-triple, with some variations.

It is interesting to note that these base figures are 1-1/2 measure long – a challenge for choreographers!  Several simple steps (like kick-ball-change) are used by the choreographers to get back on full measure breaks when required.

Jive is a lot of fun to to, and pretty easy to learn.  Although our choreographers tend to like to keep us moving, it can easily be danced in limited space, making it useful for social dancing situations as well.
